Good evening Marines,
I met with my recruiter today and he was telling me that if i am going to join that my only route would be joining reserves. I want to join active duty, so he said that after I am in I can switch to active no problem. My question is, how easy is it to switch from reserves to active duty? I dont want to be in the reserves so will I have any problems switching? Thank you Marines.

Amazing things happen when you use the search bar. These 2 threads may help answer your questions.

I searched these but none of them answer my question, I want to go full active duty and one of the threads says that from reserves you can only go active reserves not active duty, is this true? I just want to join soon and be regular active duty, can i do that from reserves? If so how hard or easy is it? I appreciate the help.

Sign up active, it will be over a year of wait time to switch over active duty. Yes you can go active reserves, but that is a route you can take to get on active status faster, without the active benefits (low cutting scores). Don't sign up reserves unless you really have a use for it (good job, accepted into college, ect.).
