Six Flags Over Georgia holds Military Appreciation Days
By SANDRA OKAMOTO - sokamoto@ledger-enquirer.com

Six Flags Over Georgia salutes the U.S. military personnel by offering free admission on select days in September.

Active duty U.S. military personnel will receive complimentary and deeply discounted admission passes to enjoy the park on branch-specific days.

To receive complimentary admission for themselves and up to two dependants, actives and reservists can simply present their current military identification cards at any of the ticket booths at Six Flags Over Georgia on their branch’s specific day:

Sept. 19: Air Force Sept. 20: Navy and Coast Guard Sept. 26: Army Sept. 27: Marines

If additional admission passes are needed for family and friends of military personnel, they can be purchased for 50 percent off the main-gate admission price.

Throughout Military Appreciation Days, Six Flags Friends, the philanthropic arm of Six Flags, is partnering with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach (FSO), a non-profit organization that distributes care-packages and letters to U.S. military personnel stationed at installations around the world. During Military Appreciation Days, park guests have the opportunity to send personalized letters of encouragement to soldiers currently deployed. A care-package donation drive will also take place at the park.

“Forgotten Soldiers Outreach is truly excited and honored to partner with Six Flags Friends for Military Appreciation Days,” says Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar, executive director and founder. “It is truly awe-inspiring to see such a venue jump on board to recognize and appreciate our U.S. servicemen and servicewomen.”

To encourage park guests to bring items to donate, the park is providing a Six Flags coupon sheet worth more than $100 to those who bring the needed items for the care packages.
