:confused:Any Marines have their penny's worth on buying a car or any other investment while on active duty?

If you're going to get a car then wait until your first duty station. Find some time to go home on leave and buy a car there. Almost all the auto dealers near bases will rip you off. As far as investments go, I would say look into a Thrift Savings Plan. It's pretty much a retirement fund where you put money in it every paycheck and that gains interest. I think it was something like if you put $200 in a month for 20 years you would have about $700,000 when your 65. You don't have to put that much in though, that's just an example. If you decide to get out you can also convert it into an IRA

ook i will certainly look into the thrifts savings plan, it sounds interesting. And the car... I'll look into it. I'd like to buy a car. How would i go about that. with the financial situation of a Pfc or Pvt?

Sparkie, these are simple and basic questions that he can ask his Recruiter on. When they don't get the answers that they like from Marines here on Leatherneck.com, then they get all bent out of shape on it. Geeeesh!

I won't buy jack **** until i hit LCPL, not with my pay.
Be smart save your money and think 10 times before you pay or think of paying something at PVT or PFC pay.
