The departure of about 150 Marines from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma has been delayed for the third time.

According to air station spokesman Lance Cpl. Graham J. Benson, Marine Attack Squadron-513 had tentatively been scheduled to deploy at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, but that has now been delayed.

Benson said he did not know the reason for the most recent delay, but added that the squadron is now tentatively schedule to leave at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The 150 Marines from VMA-513 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 are participating a six-month deployment in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Japan.

The squadron's eight AV-8B Harriers have already left for Japan, having departed on Aug. 16. Accompanying the Harriers was a KC-10, which refueled them during flight. A C-17 Globemaster is transporting the squadron's gear.

Benson said VMA-513 and MALS-13's deployment being delayed again could affect the return of about 125 members of Marine Attack Squadron 211, who are tentatively scheduled to return to the air station Friday evening.

The squadron has been on a seven-month deployment to Japan and a tour with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 150 Marines from VMA-513 and MALS-13 are replacing VMA-211.

The squadron's eight AV-8B Harriers are already back, having returned to the air station earlier this month. An advance party of 16 Marines from the squadron returned to MCAS on July 28.
