NBC is now actually CBRN (Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear) Defense. MOS school is at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. You can get sent to a duty station at any kind of unit in the operating forces. If you have any questions about the MOS feel free to ask.

maybe you didn't notice but he IS a NBC Marine...

you will more than likely give reports to Bn and higher commands of your readyness.... you'll train Marines in the gas chamber and repair equipment... as well as order canisters and other fun stuff....

that's a basic summary... the TS stuff you'll learn some other time.

All I have to say is wait for that final test in MOS school... My buddy told me it was a DOOZY, to say the least. So pay attention!

Okay, first of all, you don't clean gas masks. Every single Marine is responsible for his own mask. Second you won't be repairing gear, we got civilians for that. You will learn all about weapons of mass destruction, go through a live nerve agent chamber in our chemical protective suit, and some other things while at school. When you get to the fleet you will most likely be give the opportunity to go through Hazardous Materials Access Consequence Management course and be certified to at least the technician level by the EPA and NFPA.

The main part of the job is being an instructor. You will teach a lot of what you know to other Marines. As for deployments it all depends on what kind of unit you get sent.

As far as the testing goes. You pretty much have to suck at life to fail out of school.

To get this MOS you need a GT score of at least 110, waiverable down to 107. What is yours 27?

who's the GT score question for?

as for cleaning gas masks and doing repairs... it all depends on your unit.

All the NBC (yes I know it's got a new name) bubbas cleaned old masks that are turned in before they are re-issued (but they usually get a working party...) and there are 1st echelon repairs that get done as well as second If I can remember... something about gluing in drink tubes and such.... but you're right nothing else gets done after that.

so, I'm not an expert but I can say from experience that your unit will be a deciding factor on the finer details of what you do... just as CBRN said... he doesn't do that stuff where he's at.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. There's plenty for you to do.

I picked MT maint 'cause of that very reason... now I have like 9 trillion things to pick from at anytime of day... it's exhilarating... then I realize I have 9 trillion things to do in an 8 hourish day and I stress out... :(

but I'm a SNCO....

Haha, oh man. I hope you like Ft. Lost in the Woods...worst 3 months of my life besides boot camp. I saw some CBRN Marines putting on masks and MOP suites, and hiking...looked like hell. I just had to run 5 miles in PT gear 3 times a week. Hope you like it!
