Solar heating in pool

Cherry Point Air Station will officially kick off installing a solar panel heating system for the Combat Swim Training Pool Thursday, Marine officials say.
The $400,000 project is funded through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to modernize Marine Corps infrastructure, enhance energy independence and provided improvements to facilities that benefit Marines, sailors and their families, according to a press release from Cherry Point.
The contract was awarded to R&W Construction, based in Jacksonville, July 1 and is expected to be complete by February, according to the release.
