Marines Stop IRR Recalls

The Marines have been successful in increasing its active duty strength to 202,000, and -- as a result -- have decided to end involuntary recall of Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Marines. A little more than 200 IRR Marines who reported for duty in late spring are likely the last reservists to get involuntarily recalled, according to officials.
Since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Corps has recalled about 3,800 IRR Marines.
