Who wore these? Extra 'oohrah' for 'when'.

LOL.

And yes, they are real, and really worn by Marines.

And rare as 'hen's teeth'.

Not mine.

I think this one is easy:

1st Samoan Battalion, US Marine Corps Reserve

Worn from about August 1941 until January 1944.

It was a sash the Samoan Marines wore at the waist of their lavalava. I don't know if they had a special name for it.
