Listened to the Bucs and Titans game, didn't catch the final score. This year is going to be a tough one on me, we had to cut back on expenses and of course the first to go was my NFL ticket on Directv, now I may catch 1 or 2 Raiders games.

Cutler only found the opponent once in his debut.

His QB rating was only a couple points lower than Orton, but the result was the same - his team lost.

It could be a long season.

With regards to the Bears, I sure hope one game doesn't make for a Quarterback controversy already. I did notice that Cutler focused on Hester who is not a WR by Trade, but newly converted. Also, why so much passing in the first preseason game. You'd think they would work on basics to begin with, like establishing the run. Yeah, I'm old school Bears.

I don't see Vick playing very much this year unless McNabb does something stupid like loses his ability to run (again).

You're probably right, SSgt Petzold. I can't relate though. A box of pens is chump change to me, but that's where it ends. Of course, no one's yelling and screaming that my box of pens can't win more than 2 games.

Copy, thought it was related to when he handed the reins back over and disappeared into self-imposed exile because of the greed of a certain ruler with a newly expanded empire.

He didn't define perish; which in most modern cases would include assimilation... I wonder who's going that route currently.

My parents and family are originally from the Detroit area so I'm a closet Lions fan, when they not playing the Bears. My favorite Lions players were Mike Lucci and Lem Barney....Sanders was a great to watch also. But I was a Payton fan already.

Little Lions History:

The Lions have only won four NFL Championships (http://www.leatherneck.com/wiki/List_of_NFL_champions), the last in 1957. The Lions have yet to qualify for the Super Bowl (http://www.leatherneck.com/wiki/Super_Bowl). By the time I was a Senior, I was Captain of my Team, the only 4 year letterman in the schools history, Made All Valley, All League as a Defensive Tackle and All Valley, All League, All State as an Offensive Guard. Probably Chicago or Detroit......it's a revenge factor on Ted Thompson, Farve wants to stick it to him as often as he can. Plus....he still wants to add on to all the records that he has... all that team stuff was a bunch of crap....hell...he had a locker down the hallway from the locker room...wouldn't even dress with the team... Yea they are out of college at that point, right? College is big money too. Its not just black and white, the lines have blurred. Even in high school there are kids that think they are pros and mimic them and thats usually bad.

Point is its a big big business and its all about money for the most part. I still prefer the purity of football and it can be found, but not in the NFL.

Trout: You are probably right about Favre wanting to stick it to Thompson...so now he's where he really wanted to go when he signed with the Jets last year. If the Vikes have a good year, and expecially if they beat the Pack... I'd look for Favre to stay in Minnesota for as long as he is physically able to play.

Vikings actually have a good team this year...they would have won 10-11 games before Farve signed ..now..NFC North Champs...

That was really hard to type those words...Curly,Vince and my Dad are all looking down at me now thinking what the hell is wrong with him...

All time great quarterback no doubt, but his legacy here in Wisconsin is dwindling rapidly

I've been a Packer backer since the early 60's, and a Favre fan from '91 until last year's drama. I often told my football fan friends that the only way Brett would leave the field was feet-first, now I kinda hope that happens, Nov. 1 in Green Bay. <!-- / message --> <!-- sig -->
