Marines honor Bud Day
August 07, 2009 12:40 PM
US Rep Jeff Miller

Yesterday afternoon, the United States honored Colonel George "Bud" Day with a Marine Corps Sunset Parade at the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) in Washington, D.C. The hour-long Sunset Parade honors American heroes and features the music of "The Commandant's Own", The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and precision drill by the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.

I had the privilege to attend the parade to honor Colonel Day. Senator John McCain, elected officials, and military leaders past and present joined hundreds of others in this fitting tribute to a true American hero. Colonel Day is the most highly decorated living American. I am humbled that he is a part of Northwest Florida community and proud to call him my friend. He is an inspiration to all of us.
