Good morning Marines,
I'm looking for any input I can get from Marines with experience in the 5939 or 5974 field, or just 59xx in general.
5939 - Aviation Communication Systems Technician
5974 - Tactical Data Systems Administrator
I'm mostly interested in 5974 as I'm technologically inclined. I would love to stay up to date in the most recent Network Administrator type advances and technology. I've had background in CCNA 1, 2, and 3, as well as A+ Hardware. Is there anyone here that can shed more light on what it's like in this MOS? I'm coming up on my lat move/reenlistment package and I'd like some input before I make this final.
I've been a 3043 - Supply Administration and Operations Clerk for about 3 years now. My background in I.T. has helped me become the "Excel Guru" of my company placing me in the Company office for a year..
My original thought was to become an 0651-Data Network Specialist, but ever since NMCI came into the picture, word has it that 0651's answer phone calls and questions as follows: "The number to the NMCI help desk is..." and they come into your building to open a port, make a Cat 5 cable, and call it a day..
