Giant American flag hoisted above Buffalo Chip

On Saturday, a Sturgis Motorcycle Rally staple honored those who serve their country in a big way.
It took two tries and more than forty pairs of hands, but a crowd of Patriot Guard Riders, U.S. Marines and Buffalo Chip employees managed to hoist a 50-foot by 80-foot American flag high above the campground and concert venue.
About 100 yards away is an equally grandiose tribute to U.S. soldiers: The healing field features 1,000 smaller American flags, paying homage to fallen men and woman of the military.
"This is definitely one of the largest I've seen," Marine Sergeant Sean Carmack said. "Some of the largest I've seen are ones covering baseball fields, that was an awesome site too. But having that big American flag up in the wind, flying strong, is definitely an awesome feeling to see.
The two flagpoles at the entrance of the Buffalo Chip stand more than fifty feet tall.
