Hi, my name is Colin McCallum. Iam an ex member of the British Army having served from 1963 -1993. In 1966 I was serving in Lybia with my unit. In September of that year we took part in a military exercise with US Marines from the US Sixth Fleet (I think). They took part in an amphibious landing on Bomba beach and we carried on the exercise in the desert. My unit were part of the "enemy". When the exercise was over, we spent some time with the Marines and had a good time together-- the Marines certainly enjoyed it as we "Brits"had plenty of beer and the "Yanks" were dry when on ship!!!. I took some photos at the time which I still have and wondered if your forum might be an oppertunity to perhaps contact any Marines who were there. It is something that I have meant to do for a long time but never got round to doing. As far as I can remember I think most of the guys in the photos were "Recon" and were either on their way to Vietnam or returning. Thanks for allowing me to post this on your forum, and my best wishes to your members. I do have a close connection with the U.S. as my son married a wonderful girl from Texas and they live in Houston with my two beautiful granddaughters who I manage to visit occasionally. Regards Colin

Don't be such an azz. Not everyone knows that. How about a little etiquette and tact there nasty one.

People like you really make us look stupid to the world when they come visit.

Mac6616 hang tight. Some of the salt-dogs from Vietnam will be in here eventually and should be able to help.

Semper Fi.

So you're back, hey. Banned now under a different name. You, probably never were a Marine in the first place or someone who was booted during recruit training.

jarass, you be the one to STFU rubber object. So that is what it is, we have a wanna be, or worse. Probally worse, say dis-honnorable. I'd still like to know how you've managed to stay a private for 19 years. Takes a smart person to do that. Fill your profile out more. What you afraid of. Marines aren't susposed to be afraid. No, we have a 5 year old that didn't listen up in the Arithmetic class, and can't count. I doubt the jar, but the ass in right on the mark.

mac6616, Colin just hang in there, and hopefully some Marines that were in Lybia at that time will get back to you. Thank you for the Service to your Country. It would be great if you could go ahead and post a few pictures, as after 30 plus years some of us need something like a visual to help jog the memory. Pay no attention to the aparant child we have listed as jarass. They filter in on ocasion. It would be good to click on your name, and go to your profile, and fill it out as good as you can. A lot of us on this site really like to see the profile before we do much talking to anyone who posts on here. Thank you Colin. Semper Fi.

http://ladyleatherneck.com/disgraces.aspx Once A Marine, Always A Marine. Like most things in life though, there are exceptions to the rule. Below is what I consider some of the “exceptions to the rule.” Those that I would be ashamed to call “brother” based on what I know of them. Gerald L. Shaffer AKA Jerry Shaffer founder of Leatherneck {dot} com. The site claims to be, “MARINE CORPS COMMUNITY for USMC veterans” and “Top online Marine Corps community.” http://ladyleatherneck.com/images/Pussy.jpghttp://ladyleatherneck.com/images/ShafPussy.jpg My own experiences with said community were similar to the stories I have since heard from other Marines, Marine veterans, and Marine family members. I can not speak for others but I can speak for myself. While on the site I was privy to see posts on a regular basis that were racist, sexists, anti-Jewish and even a regular updated thread of soft porn. Though with any site it’s under the best judgment of the owner what is allowed and what is not. However, there was a section in particular that is closed from public view. It is for Marines only. It is there where it is said it is UNMODERATED and “Marines can speak their mind like Chesty.” Wrong. In my short time there I saw TWO Marines that were not only banned but Shaffer threatened to contact and did try to contact their chain of command. For a fresh out of boot Marine the accusations were almost detrimental to their career. That Marine is now in Iraq . The 2nd Marine is a Sgt and her command being more familiar with them, their work ethics and the antics of the owner of this site; they mostly had a good laugh about it. Me? I had posts deleted. Many times the posts were deleted without reason, warning or excuse. They just disappeared. Also come to realize some of the private correspondence sent via “PM” or “private message” were never received. Seems the owner and moderator can also view and delete private messages between members. About a week prior to my banning I did receive a temporary banning. Shaffer came in the chat room on the site and called Marines, “retards.” It was not in the joking way that I see when one Marine may say another is “motard.” {Motivated to the point of being retarded.} He was challenging anyone to question his authority on his site. Several were kicked and banned at that moment. One wanted to speak with Shaffer privately. I passed on the message and was banned until the next day. Though when I asked why and for how long the only response I got was, “Wait and see.” At one point Shaffer made a post on his own forum saying, “I wish all the Vietnam Vets would die and quit ****ing with my site.” So for the ones that were not already ran off or banned this ran off even more. The post was deleted shortly thereafter. Enough saw it that word quickly spread between many though. Most of the Marines, Marine veterans and Marine family members that I know have since been banned. The ones that aren’t banned refuse to visit the site any longer. Those of us that are banned? Our profiles are still there but hidden from view unless you know the url. Despite repeated emails and attempts to have my profile removed it is still there. As well as the profiles of the others I know that are banned. Shaffer keeps them there to keep his membership counts high. That site is not about Marines. It’s about Shaffer making money from advertisers and affiliates. He is indeed a coward, without honor, without respect, and unable to truly understand what it is to be a Marine. Maybe that is why he was only able to serve 2 years of his enlistment. http://**************/Marine Rogues.html http://corpsmama.blogspot.com/2006/11/rensi-racing-leatherneckcom.html http://corpsmama.blogspot.com/2006/10/family-to-corps.html http://ladyleatherneck.com/images/elliephant.jpg Ellie Schallow aka Eleanor Schallow aka TheDrifter aka fontwoman. Thinks she is a Marine by insemination. As I understand it Ellie was married to a fine Marine by the name of Rodger. His online nick was "TheDrifter." When he passed away, Ellie took over his nick on Leatherneck {dot} com. However she has since butchered Rodgers profile. About the only thing that remains is his nick. She has since remarried. Rodger had been an E-6. Ellie for months now has sported the rank of her new husband {Mark Schallow aka Fontman} as an E-8. Don't dare confront her or the site owner about this though. Several have been banned for just such. It is a slap in the face of Marines who did earn their titles and their ranks. At one point there was a thread in the "Marine Only" area of the forums. It was for the Women Marines to submit their pictures for a calendar. Of course Ellie considering herself a Marine by insemination had to put her picture in said thread. For most of the Women Marines on the site this was not only inappropriate but offensive. Most did not say anything knowing they would be banned if they did. My pictures were hosted by weblogimages.com and I simply just deleted them from my weblogimages account thus they should no longer be in the thread. I can't know for sure as I can't view the thread as I am now banned from said site. My first encounter with Ellie was on her soft porn thread. "Get out of the rack Marines some Morning Delight." A thread where she posts pictures of women in skimpy clothes, half clothed, bikini's and lingerie. I have a sense of humour and did not really find it offensive. But I posted a couple of pictures of larger women on there. As soon as she saw it they were promptly deleted and I was given my public warning on said thread. Though from that point on I had many posts and private messages mysteriously disappear. I can not confirm it but on the last night I was at that site there was a nick that showed up in chat unfamiliar to all of us. A female nick who was supposedly from Pennsylvania which is her home state. I might just be a bit paranoid but it was the general concensus by private messages with others in chat that it was Ellie in the chat room with a different newly created nick.

WHY THANK YA'... THANK YA' VERYMUCH!

freemason I for one do not believe much of any thing you have said above. Now I am nothing but a lowly "gun grunt and a mortar man 4.2 inches mortar" But I am a very proud Vietnam vet. 2 visits to that lovely land. I now for a fact that this site is not prejudice toward Viet Vets. The only thing I have seen as far as being predates is of 2 people have said bad things about my religion. I am a LDS (Mormon) and I just ignored them. I don't know what has happened in the past to make you so hateful to wards the people who over see this site but I believe that some sole searching on your part might be helpfully. Or maybe you could grow up.

jarhaid, don't believe your marbles are in the same bag. I told Colin that I thanked him for serving HIS Country, not ours. And for your info, I am a Retired Marine.PDRL. You most likely don't even know what that means. I'd be looking over my shoulder if I was you, for insulting the Marines you have on this site. You'll be some where one day, and a big ole hand might grab you by the skinny little neck you have, and shake something out of you. Thats learning the hard way.
