<!-- end .byline -->LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the help of a $250,000 reward, the founder of the Papa John's pizza chain has finally reunited with the muscle car he sold years ago to help keep his family's business afloat.
John Schnatter sold the gold-and-black 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 for $2,800 in 1983. The money helped save his father's tavern in Jeffersonville, Ind., and he used the rest to start what would become a worldwide pizza business.
But he still missed his beloved Camaro and spent years searching for it. He created a Web site on the search, held promotional appearances and eventually offered $250,000 to whoever found it.
It turns out he didn't have to leave Kentucky, where the pizza chain is based in Louisville. The car only changed hands twice from the original buyers, ending up with Jeffery Robinson in Flatwoods, about 165 miles to the east.
"When I first saw it I still wanted to look it over to make sure it was the car even though I knew it," Schnatter told The Associated Press. "That kind of hit me emotionally. I was kind of numb."
The original buyers of Schnatter's car heard about the search when he appeared in a TV interview before an NFL game this month. An online search led them to the car blog Jalopnik, which has followed the search and tipped off Papa John's.
Robinson, who bought the car about five years ago for $4,000, recently delivered the Camaro to Schnatter, earning the $250,000 reward. The original buyers will get $25,000 for their help tracking it down.
Schnatter says it looks very much the same as it did when he sold it in 1983, but with a larger motor and fatter tires for drag racing.
The car will be displayed at the company headquarters in Louisville, replacing a replica Schnatter commissioned while he searched for his original car.
In honor of the reunion, Papa John's planned to offer all Camaro owners a free pizza at stores on Wednesday.

You guys check gas mileage ? I never saw the point with a 4x4 or hot rod .As long as it is running good .

As long as it pulls hard when I mash the pedal, I'm good.

I had the same '88 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2 for 10 years, mine was Charcoal and Silver. First vehicle I ever bought new, Loved that Lil Truck. Those Captain type bucket seat were damn comfortable. Traded it in for my Buick. I got sick of helping people move, lol.

Hey Rocky,
you're probably right to close on the house! But man I don't blame you for being tempted for a factory perfect '68 Chevelle...wow! I tried to get my wife on board to buy a new F150 last month but she shot that down fast! (no new payments)
so I'm still stuck with the '89 F150.

Yes it is, I should say Was!!!

Sold this Morning in 1 day.
Poor guy took 10 grand only :(.
I bet the guy who bought it is gonna turn it over in a week and double his money.
I heard that's the kind of guy he is buying and selling on other peoples misfortunes.

If he does that he should flip the seller the other 2 grand he was asking.
That would be the right thing to do.

Haha I'd love that car.. I'm looking at something a little more economical though. I'm about to go on the most skate deployment ever.. to Iraq. We're going to be the last infantry unit on the ground there, and I'll pretty much be staying in Al Asad the whole time, hitting the gym and getting paid combat pay for sitting on my @ss. I was thinking more along the lines of a Nissan Altima.. maybe a 2005 or 06. Spend maybe 10-12K.. something roomy, that I can put a good sound system in.. good on gas.. I'll save the sports/luxury car for my 2nd deployment : )

Funny story. When I joined the guard and got sent to Germany for a year doing law enforcement MP duty, the Jeep Cherokee was the ****. I bought one in law school, stripped down to just 4-wheel, 6-banger, and anti-lock. My wife loved it, and when her car broke she got the same Cherokee only with all the extras.

The new jeep looks close, we are waiting to see how it holds up before we up grade.

Good luck hunting .... It took me about two months of research to finally pick the Escape. Since I live in Fl. I had to special order the V6 4WD. I wanted the 4WD because I spend a lot of the summer months in the NC mountains plus I have family in Pa. and Minn.
Bottom line is that the Escape appears to be the best deal for the money. Many of the standard features that I got on the Limited model cost extra on others and the goverment doesn't own Ford. I stayed away from GM (Goverment Motors).

My Escape is the XLT model with the V6, front wheel drive. We bought it in 05 and haven't had a single problem with it. Plus it is better on gas then a Toyota I use to have. The only suggestion I would make is to get the windows tinted, with all of the glass they have it doesn't take long here in the south to turn that thing into an oven.

The V8's come with either 426 (with manual transmission) or 400 (automatic transmission) at the flywheel. The V6's come in at just over 300. Mine was the 400hp automatic, but it's almost at 400rwhp now.

Good luck in the raffle.

And my wife still drives our 2001 Mitsubushi Eclipse Spyder GT. Hoping that when i get back home i can finally get a new truck ! and put my wife into something more "family oriented" as how we are trying to start our family. That's a nice looking Goat.It looks alot like a '67 which is my favorite mainly because I drove one owned by a friend of mine.
I bought at '64 GTO when I got out of the service, candy apple red,389,4 speed.I really beat the hell out of it then sold it to a kid who totaled it within a week.He still owes me money on that deal
What's with the hood, does it have a blower.

A while back I mentioned that I just happened to come across an open air car show, took some pictures but was not able to upload them for everyone to see. Now that submitting photos seems to have been corrected I hope that you like the photos I took. Please keep in mind that there were alot of other cars present but these were the one's that caught my eye. Also know that I don't know sh*t from shinola when it comes to cars. :)

Currently I ride a 2005 Kawasaki KLR 650. I've owned it for 3 years and have put just over 30,000 on the odometer...I believe the answer to the question of when is it a good day to ride is directly connected to when is a good day to shoot... I wish I had the money for a Harley; but my KLR will go where I want to go and doesn't look bad dirty. So for now, I'm happy with it. IMHO, I also believe the Marine MC should make an exception for the one bike that the Marines actually use... :flag:

I hear ya...couple days after buying mine, the wife and I drove down to Richmond for the day and coming back on the 95, it was clear so I opened it up at a portion where I knew there was no place for the police to sit in the median...after 122mph in 4th gear, I decided that was good enough...lol
