Marine Corps releases Grow the Force EIS

The Marine Corps has released the draft Grow the Force Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Camp Lejeune, New River Air Station and Cherry Point Air Station Friday.

The draft EIS assesses the potential effects that permanently increasing Marine forces at the three Marine Corps installations in North Carolina may have on the human, natural or cultural environment, according to a press release from Camp Lejeune.

Copies are available at www.GrowTheForceNC.com and at local libraries.

There will be open house sessions from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and formal presentation and comment periods from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following days at the following locations:

Aug. 18: Havelock Tourist and Event Center, 201 Tourist Center Drive

Aug. 19: Jacksonville High School auditorium, 1021 Henderson Drive

Aug. 20: Holly Ridge Community Center, 404 Sound Road
