US Marines musicians perform for Ipswich Hospital patients

CHILDREN at the Ipswich Hospital received a musical surprise last Thursday.

The Hawaii-based United States Marine Forces Pacific Band visited the Sunshine Circle Children’s Ward prior to their show at Riverlink Shopping Centre as part of their latest stint as musical ambassadors for the Marine Corps.

Band leader Bryan Sherlock said they were just doing their part to spread some “goodwill, cheer and joy” to the kids.

“It was wonderful,” Mr Sherlock said.

“I think the children enjoyed it, and the marines enjoyed bringing some music to the children.”

Ipswich Hospital Foundation executive officer Tom Yates said the visit was a welcome break for the kids.

“It gets pretty dull in the hospital. This takes it out of the ordinary,” Mr Yates said. “The parents and everyone else enjoyed it too.”
