Tualatin's Matt Lembke, a 22-year-old former Tualatin High School football star, was recently wounded in Afghanistan and lost both of his legs. Lembke, who joined the Marines when he was 18 years old, was on his third deployment; the first two in Iraq, the third a part of Obama's new focus on Afghanistan.

Claudia Lembke says her son "loves life. He loves to go constantly. And always wants to keep it moving." Lembke currently remains heavily sedated in the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.

In Northwest Portland, a man was injured Tuesday when he jumped 35 feet from his burning home to the ground. Firefighters were on the way to John Atherton's home when he jumped three stories to the hill below.

A man dressed in a Comcast uniform robbed and injured a woman working at a check cashing office in Southeast Portland. Police have tried to locate the man and stopped one Comcast truck to question the driver.

Police also stopped two vehicles, one in Jackson County and the other in Kent, Washington, to seize a combined 72 pounds of marijuana from the men in each vehicle. Elias S. Fuentes, Daniel N. Ague and Kurt D. Etheridge were held on counts of unlawful possession, distribution and manufacturing of a controlled substance.
