Im already halfway there, I have an associates degree, and plan on acquiring at least my bachelors degree, but possibly a masters during my first term. If possible id like to go to OCS and maybe become and officer. Not sure how it will turn out but well see i guess? haha

cool i was looking at the University of Pheonix online and i found this degree Bachelor of Science in Organizational Security and Management I know when you go into officer they pretty much go where they want you but since i'm gonna sign up for embassy duty i figured this would be a good degree and maybe help me give them reason to put me into like a MP field or Embassy field after that

hell yeah just gotta be motivated :)
I'm not certain... The MOS field I have does not have officers, and all officers in my *general* field are pilots, which I am pretty sure I can't be because of my vision. I am pretty sure that going officer would mean a lateral move for me, and after almost two years of aircrew schooling after boot (5 year active contract) it would seem like a waste to go officer for an unrelated field.
Before enlisting, I withdrew applications to NYU and the Citadel, so I definitely have education on my mind in the future, but I am not sure that is going to be totally compatible with my active duty service. The RS Sgt. Major stressed the importance of getting an education though. I think it's good advice.

If I make it, my plan is to spend 8 in and if I get my degree go officer or try and go WO.
Yes.. I wanna be a fighter pilot.. and I'm taking the MECEP route even though your MOS becomes Corps needs if I'm not mistaken.. I will take my chances though.
Oh but it will be tough.. from what i hear almost everyone and their mother's wants to do MECEP

eh not really alot of people like to remain NCO's because there usually the ones that run the show officers are desk jobs 90% of the time lol but i'm goin in till i retire so i wanna retire with a nice paycheck to and it's mostly based on Corps needs you can influence it a bit and your degree will thats why i wanna get the degree in criminal stuff so i can go like embassy something or MP stuff like that
side comment i dont like the officers dress blues lol

Yeah get to E-6 and you'll get another set of dress blues for dinner wear and stuff. Dont remeber the exact name, look like the olden day's fancy stuff.

What ever happened to just planning on getting through boot camp?
Cressler

i'm motivated and confident i'll get through bootcamp ;)
I talked with my recruiter about the MECEPS program:
- Get paid as an E-5
- School completely paid for, along with housing, food allowance
- You can get ANY 4 yr degree. (His friend got a degree in wine tasting and is now an officer)
- Has to have a Navy ROTC program
This plan all sounds great, but I'm gonna go with the flow and take things one step at a time. I still got to make it through boot first.

Ill let you know for sure after RT but as of right now i think being a Drill Instructor is probably one of the best jobs in the Corps. I mean it takes the best of the best to make and train Marines... think about that.
..and who doesn't like to yell and belittle another fellow human being? Hehe. In all seriousness, it sounds like it would be a billet I wouldn't mind attempting if given the chance, if I'm so gratefully allowed such a Marine Corps career. Like previously stated, you must always be squared away and never show ANY weakness to your recruits.

oh i understand there some of the best and theres no doubt there great at there job and i respect them alot it's just not for me
My Ultimate goal is to try and become a Helo Pilot.
Already have ~30 College credits.
Steps;
1. Boot Camp. Get my EGA.
2. Take online/night classes while enlisted to get closer to my Bachelors Degree.
3. Become an Officer and do my best to get a flight seat.

Im sure its also one of the toughest. Id bet 4 years of that takes a toll on your body.

It is possible to be a DI then to become an officer, I spend a year in Marine ROTC, before I decided I wanted to be enlistedm and in my unit we had 2 MECEPs who were former DIs who were working being officers. I plan on trying to do the MECEP program if I decide to make the Marines my career.
