Hello,
This is my first post,and I have searched for this topic,but my question wasn't answered.Sorry if this was discussed and I misssed it.Anyways,I wear eyeglasses.I am near sighted,my eyes have a hard time focusing.Will I be able to wear my own pair of glasses during my service,or will I be issued a pair?I'm not quite sure what the exact number my vision is but I am VERY near sighted.

You will be issued a pair in bootcamp. You'll need to wear them through bootcamp and MCT. After MCT you can wear your civilian glasses as long as they're not eccentric I believe is the order.

================================================== ==

This regulation pertains to "after" boot camp.....
Eyeglasses/sunglasses, when worn, will be conservative in appearance. Eccentric or conspicuous eyepieces are prohibited. Chains, bands, or ribbons will not be attached to eyeglasses; however, eyeglass restraints are authorized for safety purposes, but must be of conservative style/design. (IGMC)

In God I trust,everyone else keep your hands where I can see 'em :yes:

How you going to make this happen if you need glasses and can't see worth a shiat?:evilgrin:

In other words, and more simply put, yes a pair of plain black frames will be perfectly fine once you get out of bootcamp. If you have an older pair I recommend taking those ones with you though when you ship out. You don't want them getting messed up while you're there. Same for MCT.

If I was you I would bbring my own and leave them in your foot locker. They messed up my perscription when I was down there so I had no choice but to wear my civilian glasses. It drove the instructors nuts becasue they had a redish color to them. I would mess with the instructors by wearing them off and on. Needed them for the range though. Never used the BCG's the entire time in bootcamp.

You do have pretty short hair in your profile picture, and not everyone is a profile nazi like you! haha!

Yeah, my hair may be short, but if anyone bothered to pay attention to detail, you'll see that the Dress Blue uniform is different than the males are. And if anyone bothered to click on "About Me" they would see that my name is Lisa and that I'm a female. Geeesh! How hard is that.
I'm not no profile nazi like some think, I just like to know who I'm talking to first before I go and shoot my mouth off.

It was entirely my fault,I just assumed she was a male and didn't even bother looking at her profile first.When I did look,she clearly looks female.Now I check the profile before I reply.

To be exact, I served 1 year and 6 months. I broke my ankle pretty bad when I was in Okinawa and had to get out.

I'm sorry to hear that. How'd you like Kinser? I'm on Futenma right now.

I really liked Kinser. My barracks wasn't to far from the ocean. I was in 3rd Supply BN, MSU/SMU, (Maintenace Support Unit), (Sassy Management Unit) as an Exceptions Clerk and a paper pusher. I really didn't get to Futenma all that much. I'd go alot to Kadina and out in town.
