The Winston Salem and Washington, D.C. law offices of Anderson Pangia & Associates, PLLC and Smorto, Persio, Webb & McGill, of Ebensburg, Pa., will file a lawsuit arising from the contaminated drinking water on Camp Lejeune Monday, according to a Wednesday afternoon press release.

The suit is being filed for Laura Jones, 45, who was a dependent aboard Camp Lejeune, lead attorney Joseph Anderson said. Jones' father was a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, where she was exposed in utero.

The lawsuit alleges the U.S. government through the Department of Defense knowingly exposed hundreds of thousands of Marines, sailors, dependents and civilian employees to highly contaminated drinking water on Camp Lejeune while actively disseminating disinformation to those exposed in an effort to minimize the significance of the exposure, according to the release.

The complaint, which will be filed in federal court in the Eastern District in North Carolina, includes multiple documentary exhibits supporting its allegations.

The lawsuit will also allege that the Department of the Navy had regulations in place as early as 1963 which prohibited the contamination, and that in 1974 additional regulations were put in place at Camp Lejeune governing the proper disposal of contaminants.
