View Full Version : Leaving Next Monday
Well, I've done my time in the DEP and come next Monday I'll going down to recruit training at MCRD San Diego. I'm a little nervous (I think everyone is) but at the same time I'm excited that I'll finally be on my way to becoming a US Marine. I'm spending this week getting ready, doing my running and push-ups and reviewing my knowledge so that I'll be ready come Monday. I got my two refferals in the DEP, so I should graduate as a PFC and than I get to go to MCT and hopefully Field Radio School at Twentynine Palms.
Only six more days.

Good Luck Marines...Send Saddam to Marine Corps Hell . Gouge out his eyeballs, grab the inside of his skull, throw him to the deck, and then stomp his guts out and watch him die.

Enjoy your last few days at home. Say your good byes and prepare for the ultimate challenge. Be sure to remind everyone there that you will need plenty of encouragement and letters to keep you motivated and help pass the time. Be sure to drop us all a line when you successfully complete the task of becoming a Marine.

I know the feeling of anxiousness before you leave. The thing that will get you through recruit training is sounding off and being as loud and intense as you can. Move fast with a sense of urgency and hopefully that'll keep the DIs off your back. Sleep this coming week and sleep as much as you can while your traveling to get there because, believe me, you won't really sleep for the first 4-5 days that you are there. Actually you won't really do any sort of physical activity the first week until you take your IST so its good that you are working out now. Push yourself during the IST because you do not want to end up going to PCP because you were one crunch short or a few seconds too late on your run. There were definately people who got dropped right off bat. Good luck! Sharon Martino, they are not Marines yet but will be soon. The title Marine only comes on the very last day...I guess I'm protective over the title because I busted butt to earn it...its hard to just be a piece of sh*t recruit for 3 months...but believe me its worth it when you go from being a piece of sh*t recruit to being a Marine and everyone looks up to you and tells you that they are proud to know you. Its awesome...its worth it. Everyone has to go through the indoctrination period...with earning the title of Marine comes the respect of a nation and the fear of the world. Its freakin' the best feeling ever. Work hard, push yourself, sound off, move fast and you shouldn't have a problem. It will be one of the most memorable times in your life. While your going through it there will be many times when you'll say to yourself "this sucks, or I really hate that DI, etc." But after bootcamp you will laugh about a lot of the things that happened. Anyway, I could talk about recruit training for a while. Good Luck...you can do it, its not impossible but it does require a desire and heart and I'm sure you have that because you joined in the first place.

Cuelocks,
" I really hate that DI".
I qualified high expert with the rifle in boot camp. I couldn't tell my D.I. how easy it was., Because when I looked downrange, I pictured him spread-eagled on the target uprights and aimed for his belt buckle.
Thanks for all the encouragement. I have my last poolee meeting tonight, so that means our Gunny gets to brief us on what to expect and be ready for. One thing that another friend of mine said after he came back from boot camp, is that it helps to know your knowledge (like general orders) when you get there, so I've been working on them and rank structure and stuff.
i leave monday also for MCRD San Diego, good luck to you and all those that are leaving soon! my recruit though told me that i needed to take the next couple of days off from lifting weights and doing my cruches and my running and i dont understand cause that could slow me down and take the chance of not passing, but anyways good luck

BC22 The Title "MARINE" Is EARNED Never GIVEN.
Know your general orders in ways that you wouldn't think that normal people do. You are not going to a normal place it is a serious place a place of business. Do not loose your perspective, and never ... never...never correct any Drill Instructor, you will be sorry.

Earned, Never Given.... Gee, I think I've seen that on the side of a bus and few tractor trailer trucks. Boy, those MCRC marketing guys are geniuses!!!
