View Full Version : Whats my chances

I know I should be worrying more about Boot Camp, and less about my MOS, but I have a question.

Ever since I first talked with my Recruiter I know I wanted to be a Grunt. I really want to be 0311, I might look into the the other 03XX jobs but being a Grunt is what I want. I was told that all the 0311 slots were filled and I wouldn't be able to get one. He then told me that the Fiscal year ends late Sept. early Oct. and that more slots will be available. My shipout date is 20091026.

I would like to know what my chances are of being able to get a 0311 contract?

Also if it's gonna be a slim chance of getting 0311, what are my chances of being able to get another 03XX contract?

Thanks Poolee Vitale

first I want you to goto the Poolee hall and as what the difference between a grunt and the 03XX field is and how you go about getting the other XX jobs...

then come back here when you get your answer and correct your post.

I'll be happy to answer you now but you'll feel really really stupid.

And work on grammar. The proper form should be "What ARE my chances?" vice the wording you used.

Yes, we do care and so should you. It's also in the rules/regs of the site.

The only way you can get an 0311 contract is if you go Reserves. Active Duty you get the UH program.

Thank you Marines. I'll definently work on grammar, and I'll make sure what I'm posting makes sense, and wasn't already asked.

With both your willingness to learn and your ability to take constructive criticism I'm sure you'll do fine in our Corps.

Thank you Cpl, I take criticism well , and I'm always ready to learn.
I tried looking up the UH Program, but I couldn't find anything.

I just wanted to know if the UH Program is easy or hard to get?

Unfortunately I'm not a recruiter. If you could give me an MOS number or what the job title is I could give you more information. Once you get to the fleet you don't use the two letters as an MOS identifier, it's 4 numbers.

0311 Is what I really want

The thing about 0311 is that it's quickly filled, but there's always room for more infantry guys. It all depends on your ASVAB score. Even though this sounds horrible, the higher the score, the lower your chances. Filling those infantry slots are easy, but the critical MOSs that have higher requirements are harder to fill. If you're deadset on gettting 0311 you can get it, but your ship date will be alot farther out then you will want to ship. If 0311 is really the only way to go for you, then be adamant with your recruiter and he'll fill the next spot he has, or trade the spot with someone else from his RS.

Thank you for your response Cpl, and I will definently contact my Recruiter. I got a 72 on my ASVAB.

70+ on you ASVAB make your eligible for pretty much any MOS depending on your GT score. It will make it harder for you to go infantry, but there are so many other jobs out there.
