Their was a time in this country when returning veterans from
Vietnam were subjected to the most vile and hateful language
from there own citizens. Spat upon in airports, called baby killers,
berated by the main stream press and celebrities who took the side of the enemy, collage professors who would encourage there students to protest against the war and the military. And so the Vietnam Vets would
retreat into there minds and try desperately to forget the war that they new they could never do. They could not forget the sounds and smells of war, and
the faces of there lost friends and comrades, who would invade there dreams in the middle of the night, and take up positions on the fringes of there minds.
And now from the ranks of the Vietnam Vets came an idea, an idea to
honor all of there fallen brothers and sisters. If America wasn't going to
honor them, then they would. And out of this simple idea of a wall of names, came a place where it's said the spirits of the lost reside,
a place where love, can pass through stone. From this one idea of a wall of names the Vietnam Vets would start to heal, and the families of the lost would start to heal and America to would be on it's way to healing.
And to the Vietnam Vets WELCOME HOME BROTHERS & SISTERS.
WELCOME HOME. JOB WELL DONE.
