gents
i'll try and be to a point- i am strugling through the enlistment process here and tryn to do some homework. so background in short is-- i dont want to sit around till december to ship to mcrdsd i want to ship in july with a bunch of guys from my rss, but my recruiter says to make that happen id have to go reserve(whatever right marines marines) but so question is
--do reservist get housing allowance?-- ideas on resources for checkin these sort of things. im unmarried but got a 3.5 yr old son, so its kinda hugely important

amongst other things i could go on longer than yal want me to but quik for now just 2 more
is it then difficult to switch from reserve to active?
and does anyone know if you do that recruiters assistant deal are you essentially active for that time and thus gettin all active benefits?

i tried not to write a book, thanks for any help

You need to fill out your profile before anyone will answer.

i do, nelly. i just dont always use it, nor do i often care about punctuation, esp on a forum.
anyhow

im not what you'd call computer savvy, so i found something that said profile and asked all kinds of highly uneccessary info like my favorite color and my sign (cause thats not some dont ask dont tell b.s. right there) anyhow i filled it. i dont have pics to post and i dont care.

kind of simple bros. what else do we need to cry over before i can get some help?

First of all you need to change your attitude, I'm not your bro. We want background info before we talk to you. Our info is available and now so is yours.

By the time you graduate boot camp everyone is going to want to go from reserves to active duty. It's not really easy to do either. That and you only get BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) for the time you are active in the reserves. For example your AT. I will get you more info shortly.

First off this is a Marine site and there are posting rules!

Read them in the stickies in the Poolee Forum where you should posting this question.

Watch your tone....you can have a question answered or you and your post can say BYE-BYE if you don't watch yourself.....YOUR A GUEST ON THIS SITE!

44ghad....."punctuation is VERY important when talking to Marines on this site!!!"..........so I suggest you check out this thread in the POOL(EE) HALL

[Poolee Rules] Attention New Poolee & Wannabe Members

<HR style="COLOR: #b5b1b1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #b5b1b1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Welcome aboard Leatherneck.com, its important that you be advised that we have rules here that will best help you prepare to enter one of the two MCRD's. Your failure to comply with any of them will get you in trouble.

Rule One you are not a Marine and this is a Marine site therefore you have no rights and are merely a guest that we wish to help achieve your goal!

Rule Two before you post a thread make darn sure that you have researched the forums so that you are not embarrassed by the fact it was asked a week ago!

Rule Three when using the words Marine or Corps on this site they will be capitalized at all times!

Rule Four make sure that you have a completed profile less than that is unsat and will get you banned for a period up to and including permanently!

Rule Five be courteous at all times with your peers and especially with Marines, if you verbally attack someone you will be dealt with severely and disrespect to a Marine will not be tolerated!

Rule Six never use the words Semper Fi, Semper Fidelis or OORAH you do not rate that here until you have earned the title of United States Marine!

Rule Seven the forums are not social a chatroom if you want to speak to a peer in that way do it on PM or by email or in the chatroom!

Rule Eight when you post make sure that it looks like you are submitting it to your english teacher for their determination whether you pass or fail!

Rule Nine make sure when you post a thread its in the proper forum, you do not rate to post in a Marine forum at any time prior to earning the title. Read the headings over the recruit forums for a guide!

Rule Ten there will no political threads or posts of any kind in the recruit forums, you are here to concentrate on the yellow foot steps not politics!

Rule Eleven be ready and flexible to accept any and all new rules and criticism at all times. Use your time here to prepare yourself for the greatest challenge you will ever face!

Rule Twelve your profile must include your ship date. This is to validate you against some wannabe that calls him or her self a Poolee. Only Poolees have ship dates not wannabes.

Im including some recent links for rules that back these up below. I am also including a Drill Instructors thread of a list of what you may take to MCRD when you ship anything more is unacceptable! As you can see it is a very specific yet there are five pages of of questions again that is unacceptable. If you cant make it here you will not be able to survive recruit training.

Last time I checked, the only Brothers around here are the ones with stripes on their arms or something shiny on the collar.

I would suggest you go here http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59447 Grasshoppa. Read and remember because you will be tested throughout your (very short, I'm sure) tour through this site. If you want to be one of us, you have to go by the rules. If you don't like going by the rules here, you damned sure ain't gonna like the Corps.

And stand the hell down when talking to my Marines. Your comments weren't asked for - we really don't care whether you like the rules or not. You're in a Marine's house, doesn't really matter what you think.

A little word of advice. The only thing to come out of your mouth from this point on should be "YES SIR/MA'AM, NO SIR/MA'AM, AYE AYE SIR/MA'AM" or another question. Do you understand? (correct response in this case should be "YES MA'AM!")

Then we can start all over.

Yes ma'am, thank you ma'am. If I might say sirs and ma'am, I was mid-correction, however my computer decided to disagree. Now I'm struggling to type properly with this ps3. Should I still move my search to the poolee forum ma'am and sirs?

If you are the biological father of the said child.....you need to take the birth certificate to the recruiters office prior to shipping to get the child enrolled in the DEERS program so the child can be eligible for medical care.

The child may be eligible for dependency allowance...you will have to check to see if you have to have custody or not of the child.

You cannot do anything until you are a poolee and have a ship date to MCRD.

As far as housing allowance goes you would have to ask the recruiter or a reservist on this site. But if there is an allowance I would think you need to be married and sharing bed & board.

Actually the proper referencing is PFC, LCpl, Cpl, Sgt, or SSgt. There are currently no officers on this thread. Just prepping you for your future.

Thank you SSgt. So I tried to post apologies for my misrepresentations, however I had technical difficulty with that computer. Now I'm struggling to type properly with this ps3.
