and before you ask... I cut a few of the numbers on the female flex arm hang off because anything less than that you are about to fail the segment... but 15 seconds is 60 points so if you can't hold on for those extra 10 secs you should try harder....... rambling....

so this is proposed and hasn't become official, there are pluses and minuses here, more plus less minus.

change is good sometimes and I think this is good.

Hey SSgt, can you provide us with the link where you got these charts? It's kinda hard on my eyes.

Try hitting Ctrl + a few times in your browser. If you have a newer browser, that will blow up the charts. That's how I read them.

Maybe I'm reading something wrong but it looks like they are making the PFT easier? Just looking at the pull ups numbers, if I go run a PFT tomorrow and do 15 pull ups I get 75 points, under these proposed scores you get 88 points. I just glanced over the numbers for the run time also and they look to be the same way. I'm no where near a math guru but just glancing over these numbers and doing some quick calculations in my head this is what I get. If someone could show me where I'm fvcked up, please do so.

the numbers get smaller the higher the # of pull-ups you do... so you still need 20 to get 100 for a young buck while I only need 19...

the 1st class is now 270

3 pull-ups nets you 60 points, you pass the section as normal but look at the progression of points.

this will help balance everyone point wise... some people run faster and do less crunches than others so it's a trade off ... you can better compare yourself to your peers this way.

Thanks S/Sgt, it motivates me to know that at 53 yrs I can still pass a Marine Corps PFT.

so long as you get 80 in at least one segment i think you can be minimum.... but don't quote me on that...... there is a min. overall score.

Since my age group (65+) is not represented in the charts. :( I went to another site to calculate my score. With exception of running I passed. I figured if a dropped a few pounds I could pass that one too. At 65 I was doing 5k in 30 - 35 min but then hurt my knee; since then the Doc said no running.

Here is a USMC PFT calculator (http://usmc.pftcalculator.com/).

FYI, mol has added the new CFT calculator. Try manipulating some of the numbers, turns out the scoring is a little more lenient than in the Maradmin. The only problem is it fluctuates, there is no minimun standard for each event to pass (you can have the minimun in each and fail). Might sound a little confusing, but try it out and you'll see what I mean.

But we are all going to get a 1st class, Rah!
