Lejeune Marine dies in single-car wreck

A Camp Lejeune Marine died early Sunday morning after his vehicle overturned.
Levi Gundy, whose rank was unavailable at press time, was driving down Dawson Cabin Road at approximately 3 a.m. when he went into a curve "exceeding a safe speed," said Sgt. Randy Moreau with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Gundy was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Moreau did not know if alcohol was a factor.
"We've got to wait for the medical examiner report," he said.
The passenger in the vehicle, Panayiotis Spanos, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck was not injured.
"He was fine. He was walking around the scene and released," Moreau said.
