I am glad to see them recognized. I was with another unit in Afghanistan at the same time. I know the GCE and LCE had no easier time of that deployment. the LCE was stood up, and deployed within a month. The Marines came from all over IIIMEF and did not meet one another until they got in country. The GCE trained first for Iraq and then did a 180 when told it was to be Afghanistan for them instead. I got the oppurtunity to work with all three of those elements of SPMAGTF-A before the MEB arrived, and everyone performed at a supurb.
