U.S. Marine from Santee dies from fall in Iraq

SAN DIEGO – A young U.S. Marine from Santee died this week when he fell from a building while on sentry duty in Iraq, military officials reported today.
Twentynine Palms-based USMC Lance Cpl. Cory Geurin, 18, was standing watch on a palace roof in Babylon yesterday when he plunged about 60 feet to the ground, according to the Department of Defense.
It was not immediately clear if his death was accidental.
Geurin belonged to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
