Tenn. governor signs anti-faker proposal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A proposal that would create an offense for falsely wearing military decorations has been signed by the governor.
Gov. Phil Bredesen inked his signature on Thursday and the law will take effect July 1.
The proposal would make it a misdemeanor to “wear or display any decoration or medal authorized by Congress for the armed forces of the United States ... with the intent to deceive or misrepresent to another.”
The bill was sponsored by Sen. Lowe Finney of Jackson and Rep. Craig Fitzhugh of Ripley. Both are Democrats.
