HANNAHVILLE - Roger D. Bell, 56, Hannahville, Michigan passed away on Saturday evening, May 9, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Roger was born on June 9, 1952, in Sterling, Ill., the son of Samuel and Murvle (Jackson) Bell. He was raised and attended school in Sterling.
He served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam.
Roger was employed with the Rockford Police Department and also in the maintenance department at the Sterling Hospital.
On Jan. 21, 2004, Roger D. Bell married Rita (Meshigaud) Polfus in Hannahville.
He was a member of Masons and the Hannahville American Legion Post 116.
Among the survivors include his wife, Rita of Hannahville; son, Jason Bell of Sterling, Ill.; three daughters, Shelly Bell and Samantha Bell, both of Port Washington, Wis., and Jennifer Bell of Sterling, Ill.; two grandchildren; three stepsons, Bud Polfus Jr. of Escanaba, Otto (Julie) Polfus of Carney, and Lloyd (Sulene) Polfus of Cedar River; stepdaughter, Linda Polfus of Carney; nine step-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Bell of Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 11, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Hannahville Community Center with traditional funeral services to follow on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Hannahville Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Bell family with arrangements.
