A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He
reduced altitude and
>spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and
shouted, "Excuse me, can
>you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an
hour ago, but I don't
>know where I am."
>The woman below replied, "You're in a hot air balloon
hovering approximately
>30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41
degrees north latitude
>and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."
>"You must be an Accountant," said the balloonist.
>"I am," replied the woman, "How did you know?"
>"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told
me is, technically
>correct, but I've no idea what to make of your
information, and the fact is
>I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help at
all. If anything,
>you've delayed my trip."
>The woman below responded, "You must be in
Management."
>"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you
know?"
>"Well," said the woman, "you don't know where you are
or where you're going.
>You have risen to where you are due to a large
quantity of hot air. You
>made a promise that you've no idea how to keep, and
you expect people
>beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you
are in exactly the same
>position you were in before we met, but now, somehow,
it's my fault."

Sky,

It wasn’t my intention to disillusion you with that last statement, but reality is, what reality is, if it exists in civilian life, it will exist in military life. However, this issue is never as predominant in the Corps.

Most of your leaders will be good ones but remember this, in the Military regardless of branch, SH!T always rolls down hill.

There will always be one or two, clueless, egotistical, power mongers who have to be dealt with. Mastering this challenge is also part of what makes you a good Marine.

I hear ya Sky,

If ya can't take a Rib every now and then, you're dead meat in the Corps.

I think that AS* Hole in heartbreak Ridge was an extreme example, no Marine Officer would dare talk to a MOH recipient the way this guy did. But it does make a good point, were all human when it all boils down.

CAS3 you’re right, some of those 2nd LT’s were something, fortunately by the time they get to the rank of 1st Lt, they settle down a little.

But some of those 90 Day Wonders can be hell to live with.

The Ontos Grunts around here should love that photo, it looks old

Badbob great posts. Funny you brought that up because
when I read the joke the Marine Corps was the first
thing that came to my mind. It's all good though. We
adapt and overcome, right?!

Lady Leatherneck, this was an interesting post.

What has just this second become very clear to me, all be it, after a few cold ones, I think we've accidentally clearly defined the definition of “The Hard Corps”.

The Hard Corps, are those few of the Few, who stay in and make the corps what is.

You and I, and most of the others here went in, did our time, and got out. That doesn't make us less of a Marine or take away any of our accomplishments, but the Hard Corps stayed in and made it better the new bread.

By the way, sorry to hear about CANDY.

It appears CAS3 also sniped "TOM" my favorite tom cat, as well.

CAS3 had best be advised, I've got 6 other Cats here in my bunker who are pretty P!ssed off. LOL

Bob
