Marines Offer Enlistment Bonus to Recon Recruits

The Marine Corps will begin offering a $7,500 enlistment bonus for new recruits enlisting in MOS 0321,Reconnaissance Man, who ship out to basic training on or after October 1, 2009. In conjunction with this new bonus, the minimum active duty enlistment comittment for this MOS will increase from four years to five years. According to Marine Corps Administrative Message 285-09, the current time to train 0321 Marines is 10.3 months. The additional service commitment will allow first-term Recon Marines to complete more than one deployment during their enlistment, and allow for additional skills training, following completion of the Marine Corps Basic Reconnaissance Course (BRC).
