I know tat questions have been asked before so if someone can answer this and help me out you can delete this afterwards.Would a tribal tattoo that covers the top part of your right arm be considered a sleeve tattoo.Like if its completly above the elbow and stops near the shoulder.

This is a big question for me?

Google is your friend.

Here is one:

GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. HIGH STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL MILITARY
APPEARANCE REMAIN A PART OF OUR MARINE CORPS HERITAGE. WE SERVE
PROUDLY IN EVERY REGION OF THE WORLD, IN PEACE AND IN COMBAT,
FULFILLING OUR ROLE OF AMERICAS AMBASSADORS AND DEFENDERS OF
FREEDOM. THE EYES OF AMERICA AND THE WORLD CONTINUALLY FOCUS
UPON US AND THEY EXPECT THAT THE MARINE CORPS WILL MAINTAIN THE
HIGHEST PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AT ALL TIMES.
2. RECENTLY, I HAVE BECOME CONCERNED OVER THE GROWING TREND OF
TATTOOING IN OUR CORPS. I UNDERSTAND MANY TATTOOS ARE IN GOOD
TASTE AND MANY REPRESENT PRIDE FOR OUR CORPS OR REMEMBRANCE OF
FALLEN COMRADES; HOWEVER, I BELIEVE TATTOOS OF AN EXCESSIVE NATURE
DO NOT REPRESENT OUR TRADITIONAL VALUES. SOME MARINES HAVE TAKEN
THE LIBERTY OF TATTOOING THEMSELVES TO A POINT THAT IS CONTRARY TO
OUR PROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR AND THE HIGH STANDARDS AMERICA HAS COME
TO EXPECT FROM US. MARINES MUST UNDERSTAND THAT ACQUIRING
EXCESSIVE TATTOOS MAY ADVERSELY AFFECT BOTH THEIR RETENTION AND
ASSIGNMENT TO SPECIAL DUTY.
3. TO THAT END, I DIRECTED A THOROUGH REVISION OF OUR TATTOO
POLICY. THE POLICY CHANGES RESULTING FROM THIS REVIEW WILL BE
ANNOUNCED IN A MARADMIN, RELEASED CONCURRENTLY WITH THIS ALMAR.
COMMANDERS MUST ENSURE THEIR MARINES ARE EDUCATED REGARDING CHANGES
TO THE MARINE CORPS TATTOO POLICY.

COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//

Look at MARADMIN 494/08

The way I understand it is that currently you cannot have any tattoo that extends below your sleeve line and cannot show even when saluting. Also nothing above the neck line. I know there are regs for leg tattoos as well, but I do not know them.

lets not make fun of tribal tattoos.. I have two.

it's a design... it's kinda asking who the girl is in your tattoo... it's just a girl.

That's too funny. Do you think a Tribal Tattoo that covers the top part of your right arm be considered a sleeve tattoo???

Maybe a short sleeve Tattoo :)

I have 2 full sleeves 360 degrees around, shoulder to wrist and 2 chest plates but I don't really call them sleeves, I call them " What the F*CK was I thinking " HAHAHAHAHAHA

nice.... and how old do you think you'll be before you start wondering what it used to be of??? 'cause you know it blurs like water colors the older you get.... saw an old SgtMaj with an EGA on the back of his hand while I was a boot PFC getting my haircut on CJ, NC... it was blurred solid black but he told me it used to just be the drawn outline EGA.... and he told me he got a NJP for it... guess they had regs even back then.

i just wanted to know about my tat cause it reps my heritage,im already going to have to cut my hair which goes past my neck,so once i get in and grad boot,im going to tat up more to replace my hair.

No stupid tats, only on my upper and forearms and upper chest.
and you know the EGA is going to have its future place!

make sure you get your units approval otherwise you'll be looking at never attaining a rank higher than LCpl.

It "reps" your heritage? Remind me, what tribe are we talking about, again?

im already going to have to cut my hair which goes past my neckNobody is making you cut your hair. You aren't being drafted!

so once i get in and grad boot,im going to tat up more to replace my hair.Maybe I'm in a bad mood, maybe I'm reading too much into your post. Maybe I'm just old! But all I see is an individual who has to have some way to make himself stand out from everyone else. Hopefully that'll be fixed in boot camp.

BR34-im native american so i believe in tribal tats and i want to cut my hair before i go so i wont be embarrased and leave all my "heritage" on the floor. But me getting a cut will be the beggining of me becoming a better person and hopefully a Marine when its all said and done.I like tats and like to show of how creative they are.

I dont want to stand out, last thing i want is to get chewed out all the time because i "stand out"

THANK YOU!!! Finally someone getting a tribal for a reason other than "I thought it looked cool on the shop's wall" or "dude on a porno I watched had one and the ladies loved him". God, that's a breath of fresh air.

With the tattoo policies right now, DO NOT get anymore visible tattoos. They've been rejecting Marines who want to go into B billets because of having stuff on their arms and legs.
