Marines return from first deployment to Iraq

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) - Approximately 300 Marines from the reactivated 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines will return from Iraq after seven months.
The Marines will return Wednesday. The 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines was re-activated in 2007. In September 2008, it deployed to Al Anbar province.
Based in the city of Ramadi, the battalion's approximately 1,000 Marines and sailors provided security with Iraqi security forces and helped rebuild the province.
The unit has fought in World War II, Vietnam, and Somalia.
