New member here, decided to join up. Anyways, Im a yong PFC, but looking to pick up lcpl meritorious on a board soon. I ordered 2 MCI's because sgt said that would help. I enrolled and downloaded the books via pdf, but how do I go about taking the final test?

Also, anything else senior marines can give me insight on.

The final test is proctured if you didn't get a bubble sheet with it. You're going to have to ask one of your NCOs about who does that wherever you work. As far as MCIs, do more if possible. Check out marinenet. They have some non-proctured tests you can do that don't take very long and are worth the 15 bonus points.

One of the most important things when going on a board is bearing and military manner. So, work on those things. If you have a NCO that has been on boards at your command they should know the way it's going to go and can give you tips on what to expect.

And study your Common Skills Handbooks. If you don't have them you can google it and read an online version.

Essentially you can take the test online as administered by your training NCO. If you don't know who that is, ask. After you take the test, you'll know immediately if you passed or not and if you did the points will be auto updated in your record.

Here's another clearer article. MARADMINS can suck for clarity sometimes. (http://www.marines.mil/units/hqmc/barracks/Pages/2005/MCI%20testing%20made%20easier.aspx)

What is your MOS?

Other tips:

Get ahold of a BST and study, study, study. I liked to make index cards and keep them with me at all times. (Worked great in college too.)

Work your butt off in your unit.

And practice with your friends and NCO's answering your questions as you would on a board. Work on bearing and uniform presentation.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Fill out that profile.

EDIT:

HA HA the area code is the same for an emoticon. LOL

If you ask you Training NCO he can print up the test for you. Then you take the test and hand it back to him. They will grade the test on-line, and it will post on your MOL account within 2 days. Then, you can immediatly order more MCIs.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what if your still in training and want to take some MCI's? Do I need to still wait until I check into my unit (which would be over 3 months due to my contract), or can I just ask my NCO's for this current class?

while you are in MOS school there is still a training NCO there that will be able to help you out. just ask around!!

Alright, thanks. I've been told by a SSgt in my previous class that you have to wait until your duty station to order the MCI's. I just downloaded a lot of them onto my computer in the PDF file, so I just need to take the tests.

Monk, this is a test. Do all of that sheeit, which, btw, a bunch of us did not have to do, and get back to me/us. I would truly like to know how it really effects promotion.
