Ranger Rosary Makers seek service men, women

RUSSELL -- St. Mary's Queen of Angels Ranger Rosary Makers are seeking names and addresses of men and women serving in the military who would like to receive rosaries.

The group also is in need of donations for supplies to help with the ministry.

The Ranger Rosaries are made with parachute cord, pony beads and plastic crosses. Blue and gray or blue and tan are used for the Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard; black and olive green or brown and tan are used for the Army, Marines and National Guard. Black and tan and brown and olive green also are available.

Each rosary costs about 35 cents to make.

In 2008, the rosary makers sent 7,932 ranger rosaries to service men and women. Since August 2007, the group has used 594,307 beads, 10,073 crosses and 7.5 miles of parachute cord to make 10,073 rosaries.

Names and addresses -- along with the color requested -- may be sent to Diane Larson, 4291 187th, Russell, KS 67665. Donations may be sent to the same address.
