Pre-Deployment Fun Day

We all know that hundreds of families in our area are faced with seeing there loved ones off overseas.
One unit at Camp Lejeune is trying to make saying goodbye easier. More than 1,000 family members and friends of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit came together as one with the marines and sailors.
It was their opportunity to smile and capture the moments, before saying goodbye.
Family members toured the helicopters and got an up close look of military weapons.
Although tough days might be ahead, the commanding officer said the day just seemed right.
"It feels like America. And thats what its all about. And it gives great appreciation for what we stand for and support," said Commander Gareth Brandl.
The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is scheduled to deploy this spring.
