This is concerning a good friend of mine who failed the MEPS drug test 2 months ago. Originally he was scheduled to leave later this year in the DEP and was promised an MOS in electrical engineering, but now he is supposed to leave April 27th and he is not in the DEP and loses his bonuses. They are telling him the only job available to him is Motor T. I was wondering if there is any way for him to get out of this job and go into the MOS that he originally was promised or if he is pretty much screwed over because of him failing his drug test and has no choice but to leave in April and go in as Motor T. If there is anything he can say or do to get out of this then I would be grateful for your answers so I can relay this to him. He is supposed to talk to his recruiter sometime today. He said he has to go through MEPS again so he can go to boot camp.
Thanks Marines

Screwed over? He's the one who failed the test Careful how you categorize this. The USMC doesn't owe him jack schitt.

What MOS is electrical engineering? Never heard of it.

And to answer your question, he gets what he can get if he wants in. He doesn't have to join if he doesn't like what he gets, but he can't be picky anymore.

A good 'friend' of yours? Do you mean YOU!?

Assuming that this so called 'friend' exists, I hope to God they don't let him in my Corps! Damn druggies! The Corps is about high standards and leadership. Judgement is a key part of being a leader and a Marine. I don't want the scum of society joining my ranks, only the best will do. Your 'friend' is already on my sh!t list, he is nothing but a turd. We are known as the Few and the Proud for a reason; our high standards are what make us the finest fighting force in the world. Only the best can join my beloved Corps, anything less is a stain on my honor.

Electrical Engineer sounds like Field Wireman to me. He got Motor T and should count his blessings. Coulda been supply or 'Bulk Fuel Specialist'
