Hello all,
The Drill instructor in the famous poster (see below) Sgt. Charles A Taliano is heading to Tennessee for a Bone Marrow surgery due to cancer. He needs your prayers, Chuck is a good guy I had the pleasure of meeting him totally by accident. So keep your prayers going for this icon of the Marine Corps he's going to need it. I'll keep you guys updated as more information becomes available to me.

Sorry I didnt follow up with this sooner, actually just saw Chuck last week, and he's up and about as if nothing happened. So I can only assume it went well, he's doing good and is a strong willed individual.

I have been honored to know Chuck for 43 years. He was a DI in our platoon at Parris Island in 66. (2092) We turned out to be an honor platoon that year because of his qualities in the Corps. I thank him for his lessons because they got me through my 13+ months in Viet Nam. For the past few years I have been able to hook up with him on the Island and share stories and good times. Sgt Taliano will certainly be remembered for many years to come, not for battlefield bravery, but for a duty that is equally important - Drill Instructor.

A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, June 9, at 10:30am at The Depot Chapel on Parris Island. Burial will be in Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors.
A iconic way to go for a iconic figure of the Marine Corps, he'll be missed. Never met him but I knew that poster well
Very sad news indeed.I wonder how many saw his poster and were persuaded to enlist.And how many saw his poster and didn't!His famous recruiting poster has been on my wall for many years.

Went to the airport in Jackonsville NC yesterday after work to pick my mom up, inside the food court there was one of the posters hanging on the wall.... signed by him. I could tell that no one there even had the slightest clue that he had passed.
