PLEASANT HILL RESIDENTS Libby and Jim Townsend traveled to Washington, D.C., in October to attend the 42nd year of a Vietnam Veteran reunion of the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. During the trip, the couple had time to do some sightseeing and visit several places in the city. While taking a break after admiring the Marine Corps War Memorial — the statue of the American flag raising on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima — near Arlington National Cemetery, they checked out the community news in the Pleasant Hill/Martinez Record.
