I am a FMSS Navy Corpsman from the 1980's, we were considered non-combatants (even issued a special photo ID by the Navy to show the enemy if captured) and not authorized to carry offensive weapons (only issued .45 cal pistol for defense purposes) or risk losing the non-combatant status. I have seen many videos on YouTube of Navy corpsman carrying and shooting the M-60 & M-16 offensively in Iraq...has their status changed since the 80's & 90's?

DOC.....things are a LOT different today, than they were in Viet Nam!!! The enviroment, kept our Platoon's in single file, too much brush, or saw grass. Today, with little, or NO cover, the Grunts will grab anyone available to man a 60, or 79, if needed! ANYWAY.......WELCOME ABOARD NUMBNUTS!!!!........Doc Greek
