03XX and Scout Sniper

Hello Marines, I plan on joining the Marines as 03XX because I want a shot at being a Scout Sniper. I am wondering, in order to even get a shot at Sniper school let alone the indoc., do you have to have Sniper option on your contract?
I read the Captain's sticky in the Pool-ee Hall and it said one of the requirements : 4. Serving in or designated for assignment to a Scout Sniper billet.
Could someone please clarify this? Thanks again Marines.

No, it's nothing you need in your contract. There should be a schedule of dates of the various indocs when you get to the Fleet. Ask to go and your command "should" let you. That's all it takes.

o okay, well while we're at it, does the Marine Corps ever run out of combat MOS, mainly Infantry?
I got a friend who wanted infantry but they told him it was so full so instead of waiting, he signed Ground Option, what's up what that?
