NEW SMYRNA BEACH – Close to 100 revelers saluted the Marines of 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment at SoNapa Wine Company, Thursday evening, Feb. 12.
It was an evening of fine wines and fun – all designed to help the U.S. Marines serving overseas. The Cline portfolio of wines was featured at the event, which includes 15-20 different wines, with several varietals and blends. SoNapa chefs provided “lite gourmet fare” throughout the tasting.
The cost of the evening was $20.00 - plus the donation of one of the following items:
Energy Drinks, Protein Bars, Beef Jerky, Pringles, DVD Movies, Under ArmourŪ Sports Wear (tight fitting, reduces sand). The proceeds from the event will be used to ship these items overseas to the Marines of 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines.
Kim Braddock from Republic National Distributing added her professional charm to the event. She was the wine representative who assisted with the tasting, along with the national account manager for the evening’s sponsor, Cline Wines.
The wine tasting consisted of 23 different wines, samples of SoNapa’s food, (with display cooking) and live music from JP Inc, “Acoustic Classics”. Just under a hundred people attended the tasting and SoNapa Owner, Adam Barringer said, “we basically collected a pick-up truck load of supplies for the troops. A total of 24 International shipping boxes filled with beef jerky, pringles, dvd movies, energy drinks, protein bars, and sports wear,” said the Wine merchant. He continued, “The money collected covered the cost of the event and shipping for the supplies. This was our first wine tasting and the turnout beat our expectations!”
SoNapa will be hosting a tasting in March, although on a smaller scale and a wine “dinner & a movie” in May with wine maker Gustavo Thrace, featured in the movie “Bottle Shock.”
