Are you kidding me. That weapon is my pride and joy.
I couldnt wait to throw away that POS M16 after the rifle range. I just cant respect something that light and that doesnt have a sufficient bark.
If it aint linked it aint sh*t.
The 249 is one of the 2 weapons that will never disappoint me.

Don't get me wrong, my first choice was to be an 0331. I wanted to shoot the 240B, .50, and Mk. 19. But now that I'm a 11. The SAW is a played out dick tease to something far greater.

Are they still issuing the chrome receiver SAW's?

It would be a good weapon if the inventory wasn't so old.

I carried a SAW as an 0331 in OIF II.
The plastic SAW drums were what pushed me off the deep-end.

Some Units have them, we have a different version.
Hydraulic butt stock that collapses, like the M4's. We get issused shorter barrels, and ACOG's. Now the 3rd Marines I've seen out in Mojave Viper had similar but they got issued Reflex sights.

I got me an old long barreled 249. No special sights no nothing.
She aint high speed but she sure is old and faithful. Went through my mobilization training without a jam, even with mags.

Nothing really replaces the tought of being able to let off a good 20rd burst when you finally see your enemy.

0331 was my primary MOS and I wouldn't change a thing. I was stationed with "E" 2/3 K-Bay, Hawaii. Loved every day I was in. Semper Fi. to all the fellow machine gunners out there. I was also a weapons instructor at MCT CamPen from 93-95. I know I still have some of my Marines floating around out there...lol..Semper Fi.

sup, I'm in 3/6 on lejeune and I'm a 31. Line Co. of course. I only fire the m240 or maybe the m2. I love the m240 and every encounter I've had with the saw...omg I wanted to kill it.
