Brian made it thru THE CRUCIBLE and I am leaving for San Diego Saturday! I am so very proud of him and his accomplishments! I know someone will write back and say, "Whoa, Mom! Not yet!" I know he still has tests and pft, etc, (Brian is always quick to tell me not to be proud of him yet!) but I also know that Brian has the heart of a Marine! Thanks to all of you who asked about his progress and responded to my questions...you know there is no "boot camp" for Marine Recruit Moms. As scarey as this all started out for me, I can honestly say I have never been more proud of Brian, of the men and women who so unselfishly protect my rights, and of the fact that I am an American. God bless all of you! :D

I appreciate you keepin' us updated on him! You've kept us aware of what a parent goes through when their child goes to MCRD. That's been valuable to all of us!

It ain't over til it's over, but he's past the worst of it! There aren't too many who get dropped at this point! The numbers are definitley with him!

I hope the info and support we offered has been of some use to you, dear! I'm proud for you and proud of yer son. Make sure he stops in here when he gets a chance to tell us all about it!

Mom,

I hope YOU learned something.

WE are FAMILY!

Some are born into it, some marry into it, some tag along as in-laws.

Those "born again" at MCRD carry a mark, a tattoo they can never erase. Their family name is MARINE, even if they choose to spell it with a small "m". (and yes, we do have a few black sheep in our family.)

Those who join us vicariously are welcomed at our table. But the places of honor are reserved for MARINES.

And the host/emcee says: "Welcome Marines, Marine families, and guests." (Even if one of the "guests" is the Governor, or Senator of the State, he should be recognized as one of the superior "guests", AFTER the Marines and their families.)

Welcome to the family, and when Brian reports in, I will say:

Semper Fi, Marine.

Congrats to Brian and to you.

Remember to pack some travel box tissues - you'll need them. That first look at him walking across the parade deck to you is a definite killer.

Congratulations to Brian, and you as well!

He's made it through the worst of the worst. He'll finish and he'll finish strong. I know it.

It won't be long before he returns and I'll have another Marine to take orders from around here. lol.
