Disabled vets get ski weekend at Snowshoe

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. — Disabled veterans and their families are getting a weekend of free skiing at Snowshoe Mountain resort.
Seventeen soldiers and their families will head to Snowshoe on March 6. The soldiers are from West Virginia, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Fort Belvoir, Va. Most of the soldiers are currently on active duty or in transitional units.
Snowshoe says many disabled veterans can’t afford to ski or snowboard because the equipment is expensive. The weekend activities are a joint effort of the Wounded Warriors project, Snowshoe’s adaptive ski program and Challenged Athletes of West Virginia.
