I have read posts talking about the Assaultman Mos saying that it is a "dying" mos and how there isn't even a cutting score. One Marine even said if he reenlisted he would have to go to SOI again and switch mos's. Is this true? Is it worth attempting to get this job at SOI?

Yes if you are up to it. As Dwight Yoakum said, "Things change."

Ok cool thanks. So i'm guessing your an 0351 Lcpl? If you are I have a question. How hard is the math test at ITB. Was it mostly algebra?

Don't remember but for some reason the almighty GT is king. All else will follow.

Ok. And I read in the other thread that you said the job of the 0351 is just changing not getting smaller. My question is what do you see 0351's doing in the near future?

Disclaimer: I am not an expert, just a trigger puller! :scared:

Having said that, I think they will continue to follow the trend of increasing emphasis on urban breaching as well as fielding of the MK153 SMAW for use against bunkers and snipers. Who's to say?

Ha true. Well that sums up all my questions for now. Thank you for your reply's Lcpl, they've been very helpful. 0351 seems like a bad ass mos, that's why I am asking.

The math test is really simple, it was mainly pre-algebra, and yes, the GT was more of a deciding factor.

That being said, the math is kinda complicated once you actually get in the MOS, but it is more about memorizing equations then anything else.

I was 0351 from 84-88 and the only time I saw the SMAW was the one day during ITS that we actually got to use it on the range. Never saw it again the rest of my time in. I fired plenty of live Dragons tho.

Not bad, only a six year old thread.
