HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Two brothers have pleaded guilty to stealing rifle scopes and other equipment from the Marine Corps and selling it to overseas customers.
The Justice Department says 24-year-old Timothy Oldani of Scott Depot and 21-year-old Joseph Oldani of Camp Lejeune, N.C., pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Huntington.
Joseph admitted that while on active duty with the Marines, he stole military optics — rifle scopes, infrared target pointers and other gear — and transported them to Timothy, himself a former Marine.
Timothy sold the items on the Internet to customers in Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan.
The brothers each face up to 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Their sentencing is scheduled for May 18.
