Marines celebrate birthday by blowing stuff up

CAMP LEJEUNE -- Some people celebrate birthdays by blowing out candles, but the 2nd Marine Division celebrated its 68th birthday by blowing stuff up.
Former and current Marines were on hand Thursday to witness a live fire demonstration featuring M1 tanks. The event is part of a multi-day celebration honoring those who have served in the 2nd Division.
"We have with us many vets from WW2, they were Tarowa vets, Guadalcanal vets, and this is always exciting for them to come in and interact with current Marines and now we're out really doing some neat things,” said Ltc. Dave Brown, retired U.S. Marines.
More than 2,300 current and former Marines are taking part in the festivities. The actual birthday is Feb. 1
