Ship Date Change or Lose Bonus?

My friend has a ship date of June 15th with me, and just yesterday his and my recruiter told him if he didn't change his ship date to June 8th he'd forfeit his Bonus, and the Gunny at the station said the same thing. The bonus hes getting is for signing for six years instead of four. Former recruiters Ive talked to have already told me it sounds like a bunch of BS. Hoe can they make him forfeit his BONUS that's strictly for signing an extra two years just for not shipping a week early? The only reason its a problem is he doesnt want to leave less then a week after he graduates and wants to spend a little time with his family and such before leaving.

Sounds like BS to me. My guess would be he is worried about filling his slot for that month. He probly has more then he needs for the month your leaving, and figured he could try to use this against your buddy.

As far as I know. Everyone got some sort of insentive to leave earlier. Weather it was PFC or a bonus.
